Long-rumored Apple device coming next year

Apple is about to hit the market with 1.5 million mixed reality glasses by 2023.

According to MacRumors, Apple plans to ship around 1.5 million units of the company's upcoming AR/VR mixed reality glasses by 2023, according to trusted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

In a research note, Kuo reiterated that Apple plans to announce its long-rumored mixed reality wearable during an event in January 2023.

Apple's AR/VR mixed reality glasses are expected to launch early next year.

The company's first AR/VR headset is expected to cost quite a bit as high as $2,000, making it a product that's only focused on real niche customers. As a result, Kuo said shipments of this device are unlikely to exceed 1.5 million units in 2023.

In May, Apple showed off its new AR/VR glasses to members of the company's board, suggesting that the device is nearing completion before its launch. Although the device has been in development for several years, recent problems during work related to temperature and performance loss have delayed the product launch.

The device is expected to be equipped with a chip with the same performance as the M1 Pro found in the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. At the same time, there will be more than 10 cameras to track hand movements, two 8K screens with ultra-high resolution and advanced eye-tracking technology.

While new mixed reality glasses are coming, Apple is also said to be working on a next-generation version of this device. According to Kuo, the successor will be released in the first half of 2025, accompanied by a more "popular" version.
