1. Record high power consumption

The rapid hot weather in the North and the Central since mid-June has made the electricity consumption of the whole country and the North increase strongly. According to data from the National Load Dispatch Center, at noon on June 21, 2022, national electricity consumption exceeded 45,000 MW for the first time and set a new record peak with the number of 45,528 MW. .

 In addition, the power consumption capacity of the North alone has also set a new record, with the peak capacity of the North of 22,330 MW at noon on June 21, 2022.

Thus, if compared with the average level of the previous week, the peak capacity of the national power system on June 21, 2022 increased to more than 6500 MW; In the North alone, peak capacity has also increased by more than 5200 MW - equivalent to an increase of nearly 31% compared to the previous week's average.

Compared with the 2021 peak, the national consumption capacity on June 21, 2022 was nearly 3100 MW higher and the Northern peak capacity was also nearly 1400 MW higher.

In terms of electricity consumption, both nationwide and in the North have also set new record numbers in this heat wave. In particular, June 21, 2022 is also the first time the electricity output of the entire national power system for the first time exceeded 900 million with the specific figure of 909 million kWh, far exceeding the 2021 peak of 880 million kWh. . 
Besides, electricity consumption in the North also reached a new peak of 459 million kWh on June 21, 2022.

2. Not adjusted to reduce special consumption tax for gasoline

The Ministry of Finance said that the special consumption tax is an indirect tax imposed on a number of goods and services that the State does not encourage consumption because it is harmful to health such as tobacco, alcohol, beer, ... , it affects the environment and needs to consume fossil fuels, or high-class goods and services that need to regulate income from cars, airplanes, yachts, golf, .... Gasoline is the base fuel. fossil, non-renewable fossils need to be used sparingly, so according to international practice, they are always subject to special consumption tax.
