Nissan Leaf electric car will become a high-rise car

The Nissan Leaf used to be the world's best-selling electric car for a decade, but was dethroned by the Tesla Model 3 in early 2020.
Entering the third generation, Nissan Leaf will no longer be a small car but will become an SUV. This was confirmed by the director of Nissan Europe - Mr. Guillaume Cartier.

Expected to launch around 2025, this all-new electric high-rise model will use the modular CMF-EV platform of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.

At that time, Nissan's product portfolio in Europe will mainly be electric crossovers, including: Juke, Qashqai, Ariya, X-Trail, and the new generation Leaf. Nissan has also revealed that it will no longer invest in internal combustion engines to meet Euro 7 emissions standards, as costs will take up half of the profit of each vehicle sold. That means the price of the car will be more expensive by 2,000 euros/car. “So we bet on electric cars, because that will help cut costs,” Mr. Cartier said.
