The most curious number about the Hyundai Tucson PHEV has been announced

For hybrid and electric vehicles, fuel consumption and all-electric range are always the parameters most interested in car buyers.

Hyundai equips the Tucson PHEV 2022 with a turbocharged 1.6L engine, supported by an electric motor and a 13.8 kWh battery pack. This hybrid system produces 261 hp and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. Hyundai expects this model to have a fuel consumption equivalent to 3.36 liters per 100km and be able to run 40km entirely on electricity. However, there can be a big gap between expectations and reality. What about Hyundai Tucson PHEV 2022?

After the testing process, the parameters confirmed by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have been published. Accordingly, the Hyundai Tucson PHEV 2022 is capable of running up to 53km entirely on electricity and has a fuel consumption equivalent to 2.9 liters / 100km. These numbers exceeded the Korean automaker's expectations.

When running on gasoline, this SUV consumes 6.7 liters per 100km of mixed roads, and according to the EPA, it can run 676km before both the fuel tank and battery pack are exhausted.

These are really impressive numbers, although not leading the segment. For reference, Toyota RAV4 Prime currently leads, with the ability to run about 68km all-electric and has a fuel consumption of only 2.5 liters / 100km if using both petrol and electric, 6.2 liters / 100km on mixed roads. suitable for petrol only. However, this is understandable, as the RAV4 Prime is equipped with a larger battery pack - 18.1 kWh.

Hyundai has not yet announced the price of the Tucson PHEV 2022.
